From the birth of plastic, we will take you through the entire journey of plastic which is a material of unparalleled versatility. No doubt, plastic brings us lots of convenience, but at the same time it has also become one of the top three municipal solid wastes by weight. The people of Hong Kong seem living in a plastic world, throwing away around 5 million PET bottles every day, not to mention the micro-plastic particles which have even entered the food chain. Plastics threaten public health and damage the ecological environment. The talk will let you have a better picture of the city’s waste crisis, the hidden problem of plastic and the headache it brings to our daily lives. Together, we shall explore practical solutions in an interactive manner.
