Why the small piece of grassland are fenced off?
The Handmade Trails
The hikers have stepped out of the bifurcation network of “one to three”, “one to four” or even “one to five”, widening the trail significantly, which leads to vegetation degradation and aggravating soil erosion. How can these bifurcation paths be repaired?
Next to the trail at section 8, you’ll find some small lawns enclosed by ropes. This is the trails under restoration.
Since Dec. 2017, the AFCD, together with the dedicated volunteers, has attempted to repair the trail by hand-made. The main trail, in particular, is reconstructed with it to make it easier to recognize and walk. Meanwhile, they has replanted the grasses on the bifurcation trail.
Following the teachers, volunteers first repaired the original main trail, eliminating the bad factors such as mud and puddles, so as to make the path easier to walk. Then they replanted plants or turf on the side of the trail in the most natural way.
In order to avoid trampling away from the replanted plants before they are able to grow steadily, ropes have been installed to remind hikers to avoid stepping.
