Why trees are rare at the top of Tai Mo Shan?
Tai Mo Shan is known as the highest peak in Hong Kong, with a height of 957 metres. Also, it has the lowest annual average temperature in Hong Kong.
From here, you walk slowly up the hill. If you observe carefully, you will find that the forest will change from dense to thin, and then to short bushes and bushes. This is limited by climate and geography. The trees growing in Tai Mo Shan can only be extended to an altitude of about 550 meters and are dominated by shrubs and grasses
With the impact of global warming, some plants that should be growing at lower altitudes are gradually growing higher in Tai Mo Shan.Due to microclimate change and the emergence of ecological competition, the “original inhabitants” of upland plants have a chance to eventually disappear in Tai Mo Shan.
